It's been a bit of a traumatic week at DV studios. We were broken into and had our generator stolen!!
We had a request to create some ear bud holders (I had to explain what they were to Lou). Most are made out of MDF and our customer wanted them in Ply so they could be used for pyrography.
We had a quick search online and found loads of different designs and ways of making them and so we decided to make our own design up for them.
Well its a year since out boat decided to leak and the water damage meant that we had to completely strip it out; but we are getting there!! We've had the stretch done and that bit is now our new bathroom. Which yes has a bath!! Its the only thing I have really missed about living in a house many many many moons ago!!.
Well erm.... not exactly what we had planned for 2017!
Our home had a flood. At first we thought it was just the calorifier (hot water tank for you land lubbers) as most of the water was in the bathroom which is at the back of our boat. So we stripped out the floor to check for damage and found it was a lot worse than we thought. It had destroyed the floor boards. So onto the insurance, they sent out a boat surveyor who wasnt sure it was just the calorifier. As we started to strip out it became apparent it was far worse than the bathroom.
I was commisioned by Art Scene to design a 3m Sculpture of a Giraffe based on the kids dinosaur jigsaw puzzles usually made out of wood or cardboard. This was to go in Giraffe Resturants around the country.
Artscene are a company that specilises in set design, shop & resturant interiors. They are based in Minerva Works here where I am. They had a contract with the Giraffe chain of resturants to fit out the new resturants they are opening in the uk.
Piers wants to build a wooden caravan. He approached me and asked me to design the outside form for him on CAD. He showed me some pictures of the styles he liked and wanted to reproduce in wood. He also talked about what had inspired him : the wooden Egg boat!
